Fly off to Neverland with Peter Pan and join the Darling children and Pan's crew as they encounter pirates, beasts, fairies and adventure in this new adaptation of an old classic.
For over eight years, Dragon Theatre Productions, a program of Imagination Celebration, has brought hundreds of members from our community together to create an annual summer theatre show for the Pikes Peak region. Anyone who can make the rehearsal commitment gets a part, and roles are customized to best showcase each actor’s ability. This unique community-inclusive theatre model provides opportunities for many actors who would typically be excluded from other performance opportunities.
This year, Dragon Theatre Productions is pleased to announce two shows we will be performing this summer: Peter Pan a new adaptation by Angie Kinnett based on the book by J.M. Barrie, and What Color Is That Dress? an original play by Cyndi Parr based on the 2015 dress meme. The two shows feature 50 actors who auditioned this year as well as the creative talents of an additional 60 volunteers who contribute offstage. We are partnering with the Pikes Peak Library District and will be performing at Library 21 at Chapel Hills and Jamboree, where we will have eight performances in a theatre that seats around 100. We are thrilled with this partnership that will enable new audiences to experience and enjoy our diverse and inclusive family show.
These two family fun and original performances run just over an hour, so audiences can come to see one or both in the same day, and participate in fun activities between the shows. Fly off to Neverland with Peter Pan and join the Darling children and Pan's crew as they encounter pirates, beasts, fairies and adventure in this new adaptation of an old classic. And don't miss What Color Is That Dress? an original work about color and perception that takes two friends on an adventure exploring art, science, history and the internet when they can't agree on what color #thedress is!
